Purchase Of Rocky Gap Lodge And Resorts Ends States Involvement

When the Maryland Board of Public Works voted last month to approve a deal allowing a casino operator to buy the Rocky Gap Lodge and Golf Resort near Cumberland- it essentially brought to an end the state’s involvement with the struggling resort.  The board voted 3-0 to approve the deal with Evitts Resort LLC, a unit of Lakes Entertainment Inc. The company has agreed to buy the resort as a condition of a license it was awarded by the state in April to operate up to 1,000 slot machines there.  MEDCO Executive Director Robert Brennan told WCBC News that although the resort has had financial problems since it opened- he has always believed it could succeed once a gaming operation developed…
