Pyles Receives Contract Extension as Emergency Services Director

After just seven months on the job,  James Pyles has received a three year contract extension to serve as  Allegany County Director of Emergency Services. A veteran law enforcement officer, his appointment was made official by the Allegany County Board of Commissioners in early February. He replaced Dick DeVore, who had served as the director since 2011. An abrupt announcement was made in January  that DeVore was "no longer a county employee." County officials have never elaborated further beyond calling it a personnel matter although his dismissal led to several months of speculation and rumor on social media as to why he was let go. The commissioners announced the contract extension during Thursday’s public meeting, praising the improvements and changes that Pyles has implemented.
