Race Track To Feature Dirt Track Races

Apparently the threat of losing the race track at the Allegany County Fairgrounds served as a major motivator for racing enthusiasts as for the second consecutive week the County Commissioners have signed an agreement for racing events to be held there. Two weeks ago the county approved a three-month agreement with Corey McKenzie Auto Cross for a one-time folk racing exhibition event, and on Thursday the with plans to promote dirt track races at the fairgrounds from April through October next year. Todd Brode, a member of the “Save the Cumberland Raceway” group has formed The Greater Cumberland Raceway to promote the racing events.  County Commissioner Bill Valentine said it’s great to see members of the community come forward and re-establish the long racing tradition at the fairgrounds…
