The Burlington United Methodist Family Services will hold a ribbon cutting and dedication for its newest community assistance program on Friday beginning at 10 a.m.
The Cumberland Times News reports the Staggers Recovery House is a federally-funded grant program administered in conjunction with the West Virginia Bureau for Behavioral Health.
Donated by the Dr. Philip Staggers family, the house was his residence, and while a small amount of acreage goes with the donation, the remaining 180-acre farm remains with the family.
“The grounds include a pond, a track and other areas that can be used by the residents,” said Cindy Pyles.
Pyles said the Staggers Recovery House will provide a range of services for women in recovery during a 12- to 18-month live-in program. Residents are expected to maintain a structured daily schedule, attend self-help meetings and reach goals regarding their education, training and occupation through a progressive level system.
