December 18th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

The Regional Math Science Center (RMSC) at Frostburg State University is accepting applications for a summer program targeted towards students in grades 8 through 10. This program is funded entirely by a grant from the United States Department of Education and is completely free to all qualified participants. Transportation will also be provided to and from FSU’s campus from designated bus stops.

The RMSC is a federally funded, Department of Education Upward Bound program designed to help low-income and/or potential first-generation college students achieve their goals of attaining college degrees, specifically in the fields of science and math. Participants will attend three, five or six week residential summer sessions at FSU where they will be engaged in scientific research projects and other activities in preparation for the rigor of college. To be eligible to apply, a student must meet all of the following criteria: reside in Garrett, Allegany, Washington, or Frederick Counties or Baltimore City; currently be in the 8th, 9th, or 10th grade; and meet federal income guidelines and/or be a first-generation college student. For more information or to get an application, call 800-646-6004 or email rmsc@frostburg.edu.
