Rezoning in LaVale Receives No Opposition

Hearing no opposition during a final public hearing last week, a proposed comprehensive rezoning plan that would increase opportunities for commercial development in LaVale has moved even closer to fruition. The  Allegany County commissioners will take action early next month- and its expected they will approve the plan, which reduces residentially zoned areas by some 190 acres — and increases commercially zoned areas by approximately that same amount. Phil Hager, county planning and zoning director, said that after hearing some strong opposition from effected property owners in the early stages of the process, county officials  modified the plan to appease them. During a public hearing Thursday, just three residents spoke in favor of the plan; no one spoke against it. Bill Trozzo, a Cumberland attorney whose practice focuses on commercial and residential real estate transactions, said that he is excited to see this change finally ready to come about…
