Riverside Park Improvements To Begin

The City of Cumberland Public Works Department would like to notify the public that beginning on March 5, 2012; work will begin for improvements to Riverside Park on Greene Street, which will include a new monument to the National Road.

This work will require that a portion of the park be closed to the public. All efforts will be made to keep as much of the park and the walking trail available to the public. For your safety and the safety of the workers, please stay out of the construction area and do not cross any construction fence or barriers that may be installed.

The work will include demolition of the existing walk between the entrance and Washington’s Headquarters, installation of a new walk and the National Road Monument, relocation and repair to the benches, and replacement of various landscaping along the walk.

A temporary walk will be installed to connect the walk on Greene Street with the walk at Washington’s Headquarters, and pedestrian detour signs will be posted.
