On Tuesday, 4-2-2013 at 12:20 AM a road rage incident was reported to the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack.  A motorist (Tractor-trailer driver – 46 yr old from New Market VA) reported that he was traveling northbound on I-81 south of Rt. 40 when a small red passenger car was driving recklessly/ aggressively near his vehicle.  This passenger car pulled up in the fast lane beside his tractor, rolled down the front passenger window, and extended a shotgun out of the window pointing it directly at the passenger window of the tractor.  This vehicle then exited I-81 onto eastbound Rt. 40.

A vehicle description was obtained from the tractor-trailer driver and a vehicle matching the description was located by Hagerstown City Police in the 600 block of W. Washington St. at 12:37 AM.  The two occupants of the vehicle, Alan Vincint Saunders (Driver – 21 yrs old from Hagerstown Md) and Brandon Scott Castle (front seat passenger – 20 yrs old from Hagerstown MD) admitted to their involvement in the altercation on I-81 with the tractor-trailer.  They admitted that the shotgun was currently in the trunk of their vehicle.  They both advised that the shotgun was displayed to the tractor-trailer driver and that Brandon Castle was the person who did that.

An officer safety pat down of Brandon Castle produced two hypodermic needles, a marihuana pipe, and a cellophane wrapper with suspected marihuana.  Castle was arrested and charged with possession of Marihuana, Possession of paraphernalia, 1st Degree Assault, and Reckless Endangerment.  The driver was released from the scene.  Castle was taken to the Washington County Central Booking Facility and is currently awaiting an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner on those charges.
