Maryland State Police in Hagerstown responded to two incidents of road rage this past Monday. They provided the following details:
Type of Incident: Road Rage Incidents Involving Handguns
Date and Time: 8/19/2015
Location: Washington County
Injuries: No injuries or discharge of weapons
Accused: 1st Incident at 9:00AM- Hector Vilalobos, W/M, 61 YOA, Fairfield, PA
2nd Incident at 7:00PM- Nathan Wilson, B/M, 29 YOA, Stephens City, VA
Charges: 1st & 2nd Degree Assault, Illegal Possession of Handgun in a Vehicle
Narrative: On Monday, Troopers from the Hagerstown Barrack investigated two separate road rage incidents involving handguns.
At approximately 9:00 AM, police were called to Route 64 and Route 418 near Smithsburg, for the report of a male who was waving a handgun towards another driver. This incident began when another driver was reported as following him too closely. Troopers working in the area were able to locate the suspect vehicle, 2014 Ford Mustang, and stop the car. The driver was identified as Hector Vilalobos from Fairfield, PA. A loaded .45 caliber H&K handgun was found on the front passenger seat. Mr. Vilalobos was arrested and the handgun seized as evidence.
At 7:00 PM the same day Troopers received a 911 call from a victim who was traveling on I-70 west near Rt 65. A male in a 2004 Jeep Liberty pulled beside the victim and pointed a handgun at him. The victim reported that he slowed for traffic in front of him. The driver of the Liberty was behind him and had to brake quickly. The driver of the Liberty then pulled beside the victim and pointed a handgun at him. With assistance from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Troopers were able to locate the suspect vehicle and stop it. The driver was identified as Nathan Wilson from Stephen City, VA. Troopers found a loaded 9mm Ruger Handgun on the passenger seat of his vehicle. Mr. Wilson was arrested and the handgun was seized as evidence.
Troopers would like to remind motorists to report aggressive driving, unsafe driving, or any crime that is observed.
