Robbery

On September 9, 2011 an officer from the Cumberland City Police Department was on patrol in the area of Baltimore Avenue when he was flagged down by a male victim who stated he was robbed.   The male victim informed the officer that the suspect fled the area on foot.   During an investigation into the matter, officers learned from the victim that he was assaulted and robbed, in an alley that runs between Baltimore Street and Baltimore Avenue.   The victim informed the officer that he was walking through the alley carrying a bottle of liquor when he was struck in the back of the head by an unknown male.   The suspect stated that after being struck from behind, he was punched several more times in the face.   The suspect was able to take the victims bottle before fleeing the area on foot.   Officers were unable to locate the suspect at the time of the complaint, but information received from the victim led to a possible suspect.    On September 10,  officers conducted a follow up investigation into the robbery complaint that was filed on yesterdays date.   Contact was made with the victim at which time he was provided with a photo lineup.   The victim was able to positively identify the suspect in the lineup as,  Kesler.   Based on the information obtained from the victim an arrest warrant was obtained on today’s date which led to the arrest of  Kesler.    As a result of the arrest,  Kesler, 19,  was charged with one count of robbery, one count of second degree assault, one count of theft and one count of disorderly conduct.   Kesler was taken before the District Court Commissioner and held on $60,000.00 bond.
