Robertson Names Deputies Of The Year

February 16th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Allegany County Sheriff Craig Robertson issued the following statement:

This year, the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the 2015 Deputies of the Year. This year the office recognizes DFC. Will Pinder, as the Patrol Deputy of the Year. Deputy Pinder first came to the Sheriff’s Office as a correctional officer in 2000 and later branched out into law enforcement with both the Frostburg State University Police and Cumberland City Police. Deputy Pinder returned to that field with Allegany County in 2008. This year, he has led the Sheriff’s Office in DUI arrests along with many other traffic related arrests. I am honored to work beside Will. He is a vital part of this agency and is always proactive in his duties going above and beyond.

A second division within the office is that of the judicial deputies. These are deputies responsible for the security in our Circuit Court, serving both criminal and civil process, and service of arrest warrants. These deputies assist the patrol division in calls for service during times of need. It has been the past policy of this office to also recognize any of these deputies involved in an event that goes above their required duties.
Therefore, I am pleased to again to recognize DFC Andrew Mackert as one of these deputies. On February 4, 20014 DFC Mackert responded to a reported suspicious vehicle call in the area of Williams Road and Walnut Hollow. Upon his arrival he located the vehicle that resulted in the arrest of an individual who was in possession of a large quantity of CDS and cash. Deputy Mackert came to the Sheriff’s Office in 2007 after serving with the Howard County Sheriff’s Office. He has been instrumental in teaching robbery training to the local financial institutions as well as a member of the Crisis Negotiation Team.

I would like to congratulate these two deputies on their accomplishments and thank them, as well as the other members of the Sheriff’s Office, for their continued goal in keeping the citizens of Allegany County Safe.
