The long awaited opening of the Rocky Gap Casino- Maryland’s fourth- is this week following a successful test run on Monday- and the hope is the gaming resort will help get Allegany County out of its economic doldrums. Allegany County Commissioner Mike McKay tells WCBC News that some of the positive effects are already being felt. The resort is employing about 350 workers and is expanding with two construction projects and a 215-space parking lot and an addition to the lodge on the lake side in the form of an events center are both under way. McKay says the most important aspect of the casino is the jobs it will create as well as the potential for further development of off-shoot businesses….
