Rocky Gap Gives Back To Community

December 17th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Rocky Gap Casino Resort, a subsidiary of Golden Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ:GDEN) based in Las Vegas, donated more than 100 turkeys to both the Union Rescue Mission of Western Maryland and the Frostburg Food Pantry this past November. Additionally, Rocky Gap employees and guests collected 554 pounds of food to support the Western Maryland Food Bank, which provides food to the local community all year long.

In its latest donation, a local volunteer reached out to Rocky Gap when he heard the First Presbyterian Church of Cumberland was short on its annual turkey donation to the Rescue Mission. Rocky Gap responded by nearly doubling the amount requested. This annual tradition by the church feeds nearly 300 families in nearby Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland. Turkeys are donated with food baskets to families in need.

“Each year we see more individuals and families reaching out to us for help,” said Rev. Dan Taylor from the Union Rescue Mission of Western Maryland. “It’s local companies such as Rocky Gap that respond when asked. We were able to feed more people this year because of their generosity.”

“We understand there are many people in need this holiday season,” said Skylar Dice, general manager of Rocky Gap Casino Resort. “To help put food on the table for local families is an important cause we continually support.”
