Rocky Gap State Park Recreational Aspects Will Remain

When plans were first announced in the mid 1990’s that a resort hotel would be constructed inside of Rocky Gap State Park many area residents expressed concern with the potential loss of the recreational aspects of the park. While the hotel and the park have co-existed smoothly- plans for a slots operation to be part of the resort has raised concerns about the park losing its family friendly atmosphere. MEDCO executive director Robert Brennen tells WCBC News that while it is understandable that the inclusion of gaming at Rocky Gap could lead some to believe it’s a further erosion of the state park- ­he offered assurances that this will not mark the end of the park of its recreational opportunities…
