Cumberland Mayor Brian Grim, District 1C Delegate Mike McKay and local activist Marc Nelson all participated in a lively debate on the Dave Norman Morning Show.

After hearing about comments from outgoing Cumberland City Councilman David Kauffman, Nelson said he had concerns about the lack of a formal agreement with the developer for the Rolling Mill area, saying that taxpayers could conceivably be left holding the bag after $2.5 million is spend to acquire properties in that neighborhood.

Grim said an agreement is being hammered out, and that he has confidence that the developer, Pentex, would be a good partner to develop the area.  Many properties have already been acquired under the plan.

Nelson responded such confidence was also on display when the former Memorial Hospital building was being proposed as an economic development hub.

The city council will hear about, and probably act, on the revitalization plan Tuesday.
