Officers responded to the Pit and Go on Frederick St. for a report of a subject who had walked into the store and stole the cash register off of the counter. Upon the officers arrival a description was put out of the suspect. While on scene evidence was collected while other officers were searching the area. During the evidence collection a suspect name was identified. While officers were searching the area they were approached by other subjects in the area. They advised officers of a subject on a porch nearby who was asking for an item that was seized by an officer for evidence during this crime. The subjects on the porch were contacted and the suspect at that time was contacted and identified as Eric Russell Mellott. Mellott denied being involved with the crime. The owner of the residence was contacted and gave officers permission to search the residence. During the search the stolen cash register drawer was located in the basement of the residence. Mellott was placed under arrest and transported to PH where he was charged and processed.

Charges: Theft, Destruction of Property, 4th Degree Burglary Theft
