On 4/23/2012 at 11:55AM, Allegany County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to Rt 220 in Rawlings near Dales Pit Stop for a reported Motor Vehicle Accident with injury. Upon arrival, deputies found a 2 vehicle head on collision. It was learned that Johanna Wilson, age 34 of Swanton MD was northbound on Rt 220 when she attempted to pass a vehicle. She passed into the pathway of Maryann Shoemaker, age 70 of Rawlings, who was travelling southbound. Both drivers were transported to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center by EMS for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. McCoole Fire Department assisted deputies on the scene of the accident. Rt 220 was partially closed for approx. 45 minutes. Wilson was charged with unsafe passing.
