Rumor Mill Working Overtime Concerning Local Elections

Although it’s still more than six months until the deadline to file to run for political office in Maryland, locally the rumor mill- as usual- is already working overtime. On the Cumberland City Council, three of the five seats are up for election including that of Mayor Brian Grim and the council seats held by Richard “Rock” Cioni and Seth Bernard. There could be an additional opening following next year’s elections as councilman David Caporale is planning on running for Allegany County Commissioner. If successful, he would have to resign his city council seat upon taking county office.  While Mayor Grim has been tightlipped about his future political plans and whether he will seek another term, there have been some rumblings that councilman Cioni will consider a run for mayor.
