A bill that would establish tax breaks and infrastructure funding for businesses locating or expanding in rural areas like Allegany and Garrett counties was positively received for the most part during this year’s session of the Maryland General Assembly- however in the end it fell short. Being a new bill, and with major budget debates filling up the final days of the session- the Rural Economic Development Program and One Maryland Tax Credit, known as State Bill 196, sponsored by Senator George Edwards was placed on the backburner for now. Edwards however believes the he can sell the bill during the summer and fall, with the goal being to move forward in 2016…
