CEDC seeking $1 Million to merge with county

November 22nd, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Allegany County Commissioners President Jake Shade providing an update on ongoing talks with the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation.  The CEDC handles economic development for the city of Cumberland- and negotiations began this past summer to see that organization merge with Allegany County to create a joint city/county economic development operation. There have been a number of issues surfacing since talks began ranging from where the CEDC would be housed under the joint city/county venture- and whether it would be a government controlled operation or privately managed. One sticking point outlined in the memorandum of understanding submitted by the CEDC to the county this week is a one million dollar price tag to take over the county’s economic development and tourism departments. Shade told WCBC News that he is looking at an end of the year deadline to have a deal in place- or the county will move on.

I hope that everyone was able to stifle a laugh when CEDC threw out that $1 million dollar price tag for playing along. I was under the impression that CEDC was non profit? Oh, I see, they make sure that no potential working people make any money but they’re not averse to raking in some for themselves.
President Shade you would be wise to not wait and just move on right now.

Good move Shade! Paul Kelley and Matt Miller have never completed a project, yet alone complete a project in such a short time period. It would be a mistake to give the county over to those two buffoons.

Talking to the people around Frostburg they are not supportive of this deal at all. All of Allegany County will become a CEDC Rolling Mill fumble.
