Cumberland native Sam Perlozzo has been fired by the Philadelphia Phillies. Perlozzo, former manager of the Baltimore Orioles, joined the Phillies as their third base coach for the 2009 season. He moved to first base in 2011.
The Phillies finished a disappointing 81-81 this year. Perlozzo is a 1969 graduate of Bishop Walsh High School and also a graduate of George Washington University.
