December 26th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

Two political incumbents in the area may be be facing off for the Maryland House of Delegates 1C seat next fall.  Cumberland City Councilman Nick Scarpelli will be officially announcing in January, his plans to file to run as a democrat for the seat being vacated by Delegate Leroy Myers.  Allegany County Commissioner Mike Mckay, a republican, filed to run for that seat earlier this year. Scarpelli, who will be wrapping up a four year term in city hall in 2014, had briefly flirted with the idea of running for the 1C House seat four years ago, before finally settling on a run for the city council. Mckay has already received an endorsement from Myers. Mckay is joined by  Hancock resident Ray Givens as republicans who have filed,  while Scarpelli would be the first democrat in the 1C race. Deadline to file is February 25th at 9 P.M.
