March 3rd, 2016 by WCBC Radio

The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad (WMSR) has announced  that Joe Goodrich, current WMSR Photographer, will be taking over as WMSR Foundation Coordinator.  Joe has served as WMSR Photographer for several months, and will continue to do so.  As WMSR Foundation Coordinator, Goodrich will be the general contact for WMSR Foundation-related matters. He will coordinate and manage volunteer activity, as well as foundation memberships. Efforts to generate new memberships will be coordinated by Goodrich. In addition to these administrative responsibilities, Goodrich will be responsible for overseeing such projects as freight car restoration and the Railroad Heritage Landscape Program. He has fulfilled his role as photographer in a dedicated fashion and it is expected that he will continue to demonstrate this dedication through his role as Foundation Coordinator.

Goodrich was eight years old when he first began photographing trains and his interest grew as he did. Weekends spent at the Western Maryland Roundhouse in Hagerstown, Md. as a volunteer allowed Goodrich the practice required to develop a talent for detail shots. Since joining the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad Foundation in 2014, Goodrich has become a member of the WMSR team as more than just a photographer. He has also spent time volunteering at the WMSR train yard.

In addition to photographing trains, a long held passion of his, Goodrich also photographs weddings, families, and senior portraits. Goodrich is the current president of the Antietam Photographic Society, where he teaches photography lessons. He has won several awards in local and national photo competitions. For the last 25 years, he has been employed by the Maryland Correctional Training Center, where he holds the rank of sergeant. He also spent 25 years in volunteer fire service, acquiring the rank of lieutenant. Goodrich lives in Greencastle, Pa. with his wife and two children.
