School Board Race Features One Incumbent

July 8th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

The campaign for local races probably won’t begin in earnest until late summer or early fall and when it does pick up voters will have three candidates vying for two seats on the Allegany County School Board to choose from. Running is incumbent Nick Hadley along with Lorelee Farrell and Tammy Fraley. Board member Ed Root opted not to seek another term, leaving Hadley as the only incumbent in the race. Winding down his first term on the board, Hadley talked with WCBC News about some of the pressing issues and priorities for the board.  One concern is the budget. With skyrocketing health care costs forcing the board to raid the reserve fund on several occasions- the board’s rainy day fund sits at just $1.5 million, down more than ten million from just a few years ago.  He says it is a concern, but he anticipates that fund will gradually be replenished over the course of the new fiscal year…
