One of the more common annual budget debates locally over the years has been between the Allegany County Board of Education and the County Commissioners. Each spring the school board presents its budget request to the county for consideration- and that initial request more often than not exceeds the funding level the county is willing or able to allocate. That was not the case this year with the board’s request holding at the maintenance of effort level.
