School Board votes to release Foote resolution to the public, and not to rescind

January 18th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

By a 3-2 vote of the Allegany County Board of Education Friday-  all of the documentation contained in the resolution calling for board member Wayne Foote to be removed for misconduct-  will be released to the public. Following a two hour closed door session with legal counsel, Mike Llewellyn and Matt Gilmore, the board reconvened in public session and voted to release the documents- and also not to rescind the resolution- allowing the state board to address the matter.  The resolution in question was  approved by the previous board during a special meeting held in late December just prior to the new board taking office.  Following the executive session, board vice president David Bohn made the motion. As is becoming a trend with the new board, it was another split vote with Bohn, Foote and board president Robert Farrell voting in favor- and board members Tammy Fraley and Deb Frank opposing. Fraley said her opposition to releasing the documentation has nothing to do with the evidence contained in the original resolution- but rather is due to the inclusion of the new legal council’s written legal opinion. Farrell said this is an effort to provide total transparency with the issue. Due to the action being taken late Friday- and with Monday being a holiday- the resolution documentation won’t be available on the board’s website until Tuesday morning
