School levy decision coming in Mineral County

August 1st, 2015 by WCBC Radio

If the Mineral County Board of Education gives the go-ahead next week, voters in the county will have the opportunity to go to the polls later this year to vote for the continuance of the county’s school levy. Assistant superintendent and treasurer Steve Peer has been working with attorneys from Bowles and Rice to prepare the order for a special election, which is planned to be presented to the board during its Aug. 4 meeting. Should the order be approved at that time, the county is looking to hold the election on Saturday, Nov. 7. The levy, which has been in effect since the early 1950s, comes up for renewal every five years.
