School Security Has Been An Issue In Allegany Co. For Some Time

The better part of the first half of 2013 featured a focus on the need for an enhanced school security program in Allegany County. The issue heated up shortly after the tragic shooting of elementary school children in Sandy Hook Connecticut- however the issue of school safety has been a hot button issue in Allegany County for several years. It was back in 2007 that WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show”  decided to test the local school system’s safety program by sending reporter  Bridget Nolan to a number of schools to see how easy or difficult it was to enter the buildings. As it turned out, Bridget had little difficulty in not only getting into the schools, but she walked freely through the hallways and even entered several classrooms. At no time was she questioned or asked for her identity or reason for being there…
