On Wednesday, July 29, five Allegany County Public School students and members of the graduating Class of 2015 received their Maryland high school diplomas during a summer commencement exercise held at the Board of Education’s central office.
Students and their families heard remarks from school board vice-president, Dr. Edward Root, and Dr. David Cox, Superintendent of Schools. All speakers delivered compelling messages to the graduates. ACPS principals, assistant principals and pupil personal workers had the pleasure of delivering diplomas to the graduates.
The students honored at the ceremony, not all of whom were able to attend, were as follows: (Allegany) Tyler Landis, Richard Cobert, and James Long; (Fort Hill) Corey Smith; and (Mountain Ridge) Nina Shirey.
