Schools To Utilize BEACON To Conduct Economic Impact Study

Allegany County Public Schools, in partnership with Garrett, Washington, Frederick and Carroll Counties, will utilize the services of the Business Economic and Community Outreach Network (BEACON) at Salisbury University to conduct an economic impact study that will examine the annual economic and employment impact of school system operations.  BEACON offers business, economic, workforce and community development consulting and assistance services to a variety of organizations, including businesses, government agencies, and non-profit community based organizations.  In addition to the regional economic impact of the five western most counties in Maryland, Allegany County will also explore the local impact building a new Allegany High School will have on the area.  Board President Laurie Marchini said its important for the area to be able to properly promote and market the strong points of the local school system…
