Security Plan Should Be Made Available By End Of The Week

Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine tells WCBC News that the long awaited school security plan should be made available by the end of this week. A committee headed by Sheriff Craig Robertson and the county’s Public Safety Chief Bobby Dick was appointed by the commissioners in April following a request for new funding for an enhanced security program. The release of the report apparently won’t bring the issue to closure- as the school board and commissioners remain at odds over who will control the funds and implement the plan. Earlier this month the school board sent a letter to the county seeking access to the security funds- even though the commissioners have publicly stated on several occasions the sheriff will likely be in charge of those dollars. School Superintendent David Cox said a primary concern for the board is timing- as there is a strong desire to have an least an interim security program in place by the start of the new school year in August…
