U.S. Senator Ben Cardin says while there are many Republicans in the senate he counts among his closest friends- he cannot condone their standing silent and failing to call out the President on a large number of issues that he views as clearly wrong and even unethical. The Maryland Democrat says there are times in every elected official’s life when he or she has to make politically unpopular decisions- even if it means not backing the party leader.
