Senators Satisfied With Legislation

It may just prove to be a holiday break delay, but most senators says that after a year of bitter battles- they are satisfied with legislation approved Saturday that would extend a Social Security payroll tax cut and jobless benefits for just two months. While avoiding a government shutdown, the agreement doe set the stage for the next fight in February. A partial victory for President Barack Obama's year-end jobs agenda, the measure awaiting House approval this week contains a provision demanded by Republicans to pressure the White House into approving construction of a Canada-to-Texas oil pipeline that promises thousands of jobs. Democrat Senator Ben Cardin of Maryland voted in support of the legislation- but said its essentially a good news/bad news action…
