Shade Comments on County FY2017 Budget

The Allegany County Commissioners, after conducting a total of three public hearings in May, will vote to approve the FY 2017 budget during Thursday’s business meeting.  Among the highlights, another incremental decrease to the real property tax rate at a time when spending is limited to only 1.9 percent. Allegany County Government has increased funding to the board of education by $332,140 over last year — bringing the local contribution to $30,169,685. The budget provides a 1 percent increase to Allegany College of Maryland, Allegany County Library System, HRDC, and the Family Crisis Resources Center which have been steadfast partners during our challenging fiscal times in the past few years. Commissioners President Jake Shade…
