Shade Tops Commissioner Primary

June 25th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

The Republican race for Allegany County Commissioner was a huge boost for political newcomer Jake Shade as he was the top vote-getter.  Shade told WCBC News he was pleasantly surprised by his outstanding showing Tuesday.

Incumbent commissioner Creade Brodie finished second to Shade and he said the June primary date is a negative for campaigning.

Bill Valentine came in third and Mark Widmyer was eliminated Tuesday.  In November, Shade, Brodie, and Valentine will compete against Democrats Tom Striplin and Kevin Shaffer for the three commissioner spots.
