Sheriff And Orphans Court Judges To Get Salary Increases In 2015

It’s now official, the Allegany County Sheriff and Orphans Court judges will receive salary increases beginning in 2015 as the county commissioners voted to approve the recommendations of a salary study commission. William DuVall, chairman of the salary study commission, reported on the commission’s recommendations during a January meeting. The commission recommended an increase of the sheriff’s salary to $70,000 in 2015 and a 3 percent increase each year after, with the salary reaching $76,491 in 2018. The current salary is $63,378, according to Allegany County code. For Orphan’s Court judges, the commission recommended the chief judge receive a 3 percent increase in the first year plus $300 for the first year and a 3 percent raise each year thereafter.
