Shots fired in Clear Spring

On 07-13-2013 at approximately 0105 hours Troopers from the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack along with Washington County Deputies were dispatched to a reported shots fired call located at 12021 Big Pool Rd Clear Spring, Maryland.  Through the investigation it was determined a physical altercation occurred between two adult males,  George Rodgers 43 yoa of  Clear Spring and Daniel Lapole 31 yoa of Big Pool.  Both men were acquainted with one another.  During the altercation, it was revealed that Rodgers obtained a large pipe wrench and approached Lapole.  Lapole then obtained a small caliber hangun, climbed into his vehicle and fired several shots  in the direction of Rodgers who was then fleeing  the scene on foot.

 Contact was later made with the suspect; Lapole in the 10,000 block of Catholic Church Rd Big Pool, Maryland.  Mr. Lapole was taken into custody without incident and will be charged with several criminal offenses, 1st and 2nd degree assault, reckless endangerment, handgun in a vehicle and using a firearm in commission of a felony.  He will be transported to Washington County Central Booking and taken before the District Court Commissioner. 

No injuries were sustained as a result of the gunfire.    Troopers were assisted by Deputy’s from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
