Shred Day/Bikes for the World

Today from  9 am – 12 noon, Chessie Federal Credit Union, 15 Commerce Drive. Open to the public and you can bring up to 5 legal size boxes or paper market bags to be shredded for free.  In lieu of a shred fee, Chessie asks that non-perishable food items be brought for the WMD Food Bank. Smokey the Bear, Finger Printing, Cumberland Fire Truck, Drug Take Bag Day, Allegany County Animal Shelter, Bake Sale, Popcorn, Balloon and Bottled Water. Questions – 301-777-1781.

 Bikes for the World – The WMD Wheelmen bicycling club and Cumberland Rotary team up each year to collect and ship as any used bicycles once a year. Used bikes will be collected at Canal Place on Saturday, May 18, 10 am – noon to benefit people in the USA and in developing countries. Shipping bikes overseas can cost from $17-$30 and those donating bikes are asked to contribute $10, if possible. For more information, visit www.bikesfortheworld.org or call 301-777-8783.
