Single Vote at Annapolis Special Session Planned

The only votes Maryland lawmakers will take during this week’s special session in Annapolis will deal with congressional redistricting, and redistricting for the Prince George's and Montgomery County School boards- however, there are about a dozen hearings set over the few days addressing issues including raising the gas tax, establishing an off shore wind energy program, and legislation to help create private sector jobs.House Speaker Michael Busch insists there won't be any votes taken on these issues, but the hearings will offer lawmakers a chance to discuss issues that will likely receive votes when the 2012 legislative session starts in January. Most lawmakers, including Busch, believe a gas tax hike will be given serious consideration once the regular session begins…
