Sixth Casino Scheduled to Open in Maryland in 2016

There are five casinos now operating in Maryland, and a sixth is on the way. Those five casinos generated nearly $83 million dollars in revenue last month. The outgoing Lottery and Gaming chief in the state- Stephen Martino says he is proud that the state has opened five casinos- including one at the Rocky Gap Resort-  "successfully and without incident. He points out that  the casinos are generating hundreds of millions of dollars, as lawmakers expected when they approved casino gambling in 2007. Voters approved slots only casinos in 2008, and approved an expansion to table games, and a sixth casino in 2012. That sixth casino, at National Harbor in Prince George's County is expected to open late next year. Martino says that casino will create additional competition existing casinos- but he doesn’t see that as a problem, expecting the industry to adapt:
