Another suspect has been charged in connection with the recent shooting incident which occurred at Fort Cumberland Homes on March 30, 2016. Eighteen year old Alexis Nicol Fisher, of Cumberland, was indicted by the Allegany County Grand Jury, along with five other suspects.

 

            On March 30, 2016, at 7:59 PM, the Cumberland Police responded to Fort Cumberland Homes for a reported shooting. When Officers arrived they learned that several suspects had approached another group of individuals who were standing in a common area between the residential buildings. One of the suspects produced a handgun and fired several shots at the victims. The suspects and the victims all fled the scene.

 

            A search of the area for the suspects, with the assistance of the Maryland State Police, the Allegany County Sheriff's Office, and a Cumberland Police K-9 dog was conducted, but the suspects were not located at that time.

 

            Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. Several spent shell casings were recovered from the scene, as well as other evidence related to the incident.

 

            C3I Investigators interviewed a number of witnesses and reviewed surveillance video.  Investigators also served search warrants on a private residence and vehicle and recovered additional evidence.

 

            C3I Investigators were able to identify five suspects involved in the incident, Mark Antonio Brown Jr, Marquise Lanard Holt, David Lee Kesler Jr, Nickoli Dundar Cakus, and Timothy Bobby Miller Jr.

 

            Brown, Holt, Kesler, Cakus, and Miller have all been arrested on the indictments and are currently being held at the Allegany County Detention Center pending their next court appearances.

 

            During review of the surveillance video, C3I Investigators learned that three of the suspects initially fled the scene on foot, but were observed jumping into a car operated by Alexis Fisher, who then drove the suspects from the scene to avoid apprehension by law enforcement.

 

 

            As a result, Fisher was indicted, and charged with Accessory After the Fact to Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Obstructing and Hindering Police, and a handgun violation. Fisher was served via criminal summons and is free pending her next court appearance.

 

            The investigation into the incident is continuing by the Cumberland Police and C3I. Additional arrests are pending.
