The Cumberland Times News reports that effective July 1, Tilden “Skip” Hackworth will take over as superintendent of the Hampshire County Board of Education. The decision was announced by the board Monday night following a one-hour executive session. Hackworth will be making $400 a day with no benefits. He will be considered superintendent, not interim. Current superintendent Marianna Leone’s contract was not renewed by the board. Hackworth, the only candidate interviewed, was superintendent of Mineral County schools from the summer of 2002 through June 30, 2011. Before working in Mineral County, Hackworth was the executive director of the jobs for West Virginia Graduates program. Prior to that, he served as the superintendent of Pleasant County schools from 1998 to 2001, and from 1996 to 1997, served as the superintendent of Calhoun County schools.
