Smoking ban delayed

September 17th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Times News reports the Mineral County Board of Health voted during a special meeting on Monday to change the date for the enactment of the Clean Indoor Air Regulation of 2013 from Oct. 1 to Jan. 2 for all businesses. The decision was made after County Commissioner Jerry Whisner asked for an exemption for private clubs to give them time to adapt to the smoking ban.  Board member Gerri Mason questioned how second-hand smoke would affect the nonsmokers and urged Whisner to look at both sides. The smoking regulation came about after local bars, a private club and individuals asked for the regulation.
