South Penn placed on lock-in after report of suspicious activity

There was concern of suspicious activity this afternoon, Wednesday at South Penn Elementary School, which was reported to school administrators. South Penn administration contacted 911, and as a precautionary measure, officers were sent to the scene. After assessing the situation at the school, the Cumberland City Police deemed that there was no threat to students or staff. The school was placed in lock-in for a period of time during the investigation into the incident; however, there was no disruption to the instructional day, and all activities inside the building continued as normal throughout the process.
