Stabbing in Cumberland

According to emergency management officials, Cumberland fire, ambulance and police units responded to the 400 block of Maryland Avenue early Wednesday afternoon to investigate a reported stabbing incident. Units were dispatched to the scene about 1:15 p.m., for reports of a 19-year-old male victim who reportedly suffered a stab wound to the back.

The Cumberland Times News reports the victim was being rushed to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center following initial treatment at the scene by Cumberland Fire Department ambulance personnel.

Within minutes of Cumberland Police arriving at the scene, a police lookout was broadcasted for a late model, blue Jeep with tinted windows and occupied by four juveniles, believed to be 15 to 19 years old.

The police broadcast included information that one suspect was wearing a black shirt, another wearing a white shirt and two occupants were not wearing shirts.

The suspect vehicle was last seen traveling away from the  400 block of Maryland Avenue in an unknown direction. The location is within the same block as Interstate 68.

Police throughout the area were alerted to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle and its four occupants.
