Western Maryland in recent years has received a great deal of attention from down state lawmakers- unfortunately all too often their intentions could end up hurting the region more than benefitting it. Whether it be an attempt to ban hydraulic fracturing for natural gas; repealing the coal tax credit- or even changing the name of one of the regions mountains- lawmakers to the east have made it a habit to get involved in seemingly local matters in recent years.
