State Mandates Issue of Upcoming General Assembly

As Maryland lawmakers prepare to head back to Annapolis in a few weeks to begin the 2012 session of the General Assembly- the message from local government has been clear: no more state mandates.  The state’s decision to dip into the transportation fund- drastically cutting into the funding for local bridge and road projects- as well as the decision to shift the teachers pension cost to local governments has put a tremendous strain on county and municipal budgets. Delegate Wendell Beitzel says the local delegation has heard the message loud and clear.
