State Police Warn of Scam

March 10th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland state Police, McHenry Barracks, has received numerous complaints in reference to citizens receiving phone calls from unknown persons claiming that a family member has been involved in an accident and demanding money be sent via Western Union to assist the family member.  Typically the caller states that a family member has been involved in an accident and is in need of medical treatment.  These phone calls are a scam and should be treated as such.  If you receive a call about a family member being in an accident, you may contact the local police to verify any information.
