As Congress pushes through a $2 trillion stimulus bill, some Americans can expect checks from the government to help them cope with the economic devastation stemming from the coronavirus crisis. Those payments are expected to be $1,200 for individuals or $2,400 for those who are married and file income taxes jointly. It also includes $500 per child. You will need to meet certain qualifications in order to be eligible for the money, based on your adjusted gross income in your 2018 tax returns. I don’t know if Van Hollen is lying on purpose or he’s just stupid or doesn’t even know what the hell is going on the average unemployment check will now go to $985 a week or somewhere over $24 an hour how many people are going back to their $15 an hour jobs

I’m on a fixed income also do you really think people who are unemployed forget possibly 50% more pay for being unemployed than working the senate had a proposal to replace 100% of your pay I think that’s enough

What Brian seems to be missing in this discussion is that most middle class American families are getting a cash infusion. The reason for this is to jump start the economy.
I have mixed feelings about the plan but when people get windfalls, they typically buy whatever they feel they need and pay bills.
This wasn’t something the Senate did lightly, in fact, it was the House that pushed this extra unemployment money into the bill – but it will help in getting the economy back on track.
As to the line that these people will stay on unemployment, this is a short term bump in compensation and it will end. When it does, things will return to normal.
Let’s try to keep this in perspective regardless of what the mass media is doing to raise your blood pressure.
