Ocean City Enjoys Booming Summer Season

September 5th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Ocean City is enjoying what Mayor Rick Meehan calls a "banner season." Mayor Meehan said that normally they see about 4 million visitors over a summer season. He expects that number to grow to about 4 and a half million this summer. The crowds have been consistent and the weather has been great, he says. Meehan also saw a lot a visitors from New Jersey and New York in the latter part of August because schools in those states start later than here in Maryland. He says more and more people have been using the parking app and there has been been good compliance with the new "No Smoking On The Beach" rule. Meehan also praised the 4500 foreign workers who have filled positions at local businesses saying it is unfortunate that more American kids are not taking those jobs.
